WhatsApp has become one of the most widely used mobile messaging apps as of February 2016, with user base of one billion.
WhatsApp was founded by Brian Acton and Jan Koum in 2009, and interestingly both were former employees of Yahoo!.
You might be surprised to know that both Jan Koum and Brian Acton, were rejected in the interview by both Twitter and Facebook. After which they started this app and rest is of course history.
WhatsApp only has 55 employees and as per the reports last year there were just a team of 5 people working on the Android version, when it crossed 1 Billion Downloads.
Unlike Facebook messenger and Skype, WhatsApp doesn't store any data of your messages. Their servers only maintain the undelivered messages.
And most interesting fact is that WhatsApp worth is more than NASA’s entire Annual budget, which is of around 17 billion dollars.
