Remember that ultra-sanskaari, supremely sanitised film starring Amrita Rao and Sahid Kapoor – Vivah? This was a Sooraj Bharjatya film and therefore by definition was a story about a bunch of people playing ‘traditional’ happy families. Typically in a Bharjatya film, we have little conflict, lots of duty and much sacrifice in the name of ‘love’. One scene from the film, in particular, has gone viral recently – the dutiful girl is so sanskari that she offers ‘jal’ rather than ‘pani’.
